We're delighted to announce the opening of our first Espace Enfant children's center in Kelaat Mgouna, providing a safe, educational space for over 100 local children.
## Creating Safe Spaces for Children
The International Forum for Moroccans of the World is proud to announce the opening of our first Espace Enfant (Children's Space) center in Kelaat Mgouna, a significant milestone in our commitment to supporting children's education and development in Morocco.
A Comprehensive Educational Environment
The Espace Enfant center is designed to provide a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children aged 5-14. The center features:
- A modern library with books in Arabic, French, and Amazigh
- Computer stations with educational software and internet access
- Art and creativity spaces for self-expression
- Indoor and outdoor play areas for physical activity
- Quiet study areas for homework and tutoring
- A multipurpose room for workshops and group activities
Serving the Community
Located in the heart of Kelaat Mgouna, the center is easily accessible to families from surrounding neighborhoods. Currently, over 100 children are registered to use the facility, with capacity for up to 150 children daily.
Educational Programming
The center offers a variety of structured programs designed to complement formal schooling:
- After-school homework help and tutoring
- Reading clubs and literacy support
- Digital skills workshops
- Art and creative expression classes
- Environmental awareness activities
- Cultural heritage exploration
- Health and nutrition education
Staffing and Support
The center is staffed by qualified educators and youth development professionals from the local community, creating employment opportunities while ensuring cultural relevance and connection. Our team includes:
- A center director with experience in education administration
- Four full-time educators with specializations in different subject areas
- Two youth activity coordinators
- Volunteer tutors from local high schools and universities
Community Involvement
The Espace Enfant center was developed with extensive community input and involvement. A local committee of parents, educators, and community leaders provides ongoing guidance and support for the center's activities and programs.
Future Expansion
The Kelaat Mgouna center serves as a pilot for our broader Espace Enfant initiative. Based on the success of this first center, we plan to:
- Open a second center in Boumalne Dades in mid-2025
- Develop a mobile Espace Enfant program to reach children in remote villages
- Create a network of centers across the region within the next five years
- Establish partnerships with educational institutions and corporate sponsors
The Espace Enfant initiative represents our belief that investing in children's education and development is essential for building strong communities and a brighter future for Morocco.
